Meet Bailey

Meet Bailey. Michael rescued her from the Animal Shelter two weeks ago. She has taken quite a liking to spending her days at Panther Creek. She’s already following Michael around and greeting guests at the door. Next time you’re in, be sure to say hi to Bailey. She is very sweet.

McMinnville’s Got Talent

May 14th – 7 PM – Panther Creek Cellars

Join us at Panther Creek Cellars where local talent will be showcased and judged to see who will be crowned McMinnville’s Most Talented! We’ll also have wine and food of course. Your $10 admission fee will entirely go towards Juliette’s House of McMinnville as well as 30% of all wine sales throughout the evening. We are still accepting talent acts for participation as well!

Memorial Day Open House

May 28th & 29th 11 – 5 PM – Panther Creek Cellars

Join us for barrel tastings of our beautiful 2010 Pinots! We will be cracking open barrels for tasting and for futures purchases. On Saturday & Sunday, a $10 tasting fee includes your wine flight and light appetizers. Monday regular tasting room hours and fees apply. This event is complimentary for club members and two guests. Our guest speaker: is noted Geologist and Professor of Geology at Portland State University, Dr. Scott Burns. He will explore how powerful prehistoric floods shaped the Pacific Northwest and provided the Willamette Valley with the perfect landscape for today’s wines.

Attendees will sample pinot noir and other fine wines from vvineyards located in the North-Central Willamette Valley, as well as gourmet foods, desserts, and fine chocolates from local-area venues. All guests will receive a complementary restaurant Riedel stemware wineglass. Guests can also purchase a bottle of wine from our ‘Wall of Wine’ or buy a raffle ticket for fabulous gifts. The best part? The $35 entrance fee will go to support and enrich the capabilities, resources, and services of the Tualatin Public Library.

What’s Your Talent?

When I was a young girl, I remember once being extremely impressed when I heard a woman recite the ABC’s backwards. That evening, I sat down and made it a point to memorize the ZYX’s myself. Over the years I used this useless skill to impress others and to this day, I can still recite the ABC’s backwards. Needless to say, reciting the alphabet backwards is hardly an impressive talent, but I was very proud. I believe talent is a result of hard work, dedication, and perseverance. Some people’s talents are better than others and many people’s talents deserve to be shown off.

I believe the community of McMinnville, where Panther Creek Cellars is located, has some very talented people that don’t often get the chance to shine. That’s why May 14th, we will be holding an event to benefit Juliette’s House of McMinnville. Juliette’s House was “created to provide a compassionate community-wide response to child abuse.” Our event is called “McMinnville’s Got Talent” It will be a night of fun, laughter, inspiration, entertainment, and of course, wine.

If you are interested in participating and showing off your talents, please email me, or call me at the winery. We will offer door prizes as well as prizes for top contestants who will be judged by our panel. Admission is $10, all of which will go to Juliette’s house for the great work they do for our community. In addition, we will also donate 30% of all wine sales throughout the evening. We think it will be a great time and we hope to see you there!

Sweet Zooey, You Will Always be Remembered

In our case, she was a lady and her name was Zooey. Indeed, to call her a dog would hardly do her justice. It is tragic that we can love our pets so deeply yet they stay in our lives for such a short time. Zooey died last Friday, February 25th peacefully in her sleep where she loved to be, under Michael’s desk at the winery. We shouldn’t cry because she is gone, but be glad that her gentle soul was able to touch our lives.

Zooey found Michael at the humane society when she was about one year old. She was able to live a great life, spending her days at Panther Creek alongside Michael and the rest of us. She greeted visitors kindly and was as loyal as they come. She was a breed of her own and can never be replaced. Her body was a vessel for grace, love, compassion and duty. Though her body is gone, she has left behind much. We will always hold Zooey in our hearts and her spirit in our souls.

Library Offering this weekend February 12th

We’re really excited to open up our library for purchases this weekend! Up for grabs is a six bottle vertical of Freedom Hill Vineyard, beginning from the vintage in 1995, up to 2000! The vertical is priced at $465 and we’ll also throw in a magnum of our 2006 Freedom Hill! This is a great opportunity to learn about the character of Freedom Hill Vineyard and how different vintages affect the outcome.
